Therapy for the Soul

Tonight I stumbled into the shower
Let the hot water engulf me
Pounding out every aching muscle
Washing away every hateful word
And harassing doubt planted in my mind
That up to now I had watered relentlessly
– but no longer.
Now I drown them all,
And glory in their silent, violent deaths
Till all thought is enveloped by rushing water
And steam’s gentle touch nudges me towards
Sweet sleep's promise to greet sunbeams with unsullied thoughts.
